This is my personal blog to support my studies on the Doctorate in Education (EdD) programme at Oxford Brookes University.
I have been blogging to support my own learning and development since 2008, initially investigating first-hand the potential for blogs as a learning aid (http://metablogger.edublogs.org), and then – having realised the benefits for myself – to accompany another Masters unit I was doing on Assessment (http://assesslog.edublogs.org), and to reflect on and share my professional practice as an e-learning and educational developer (http://lindsayjordan.edublogs.org).
I have been using blogs with my own students for the last three years on the PG Cert Academic Practice course at the University of the Arts London; these are a mandatory peer & self-assessed element of the course and carry 50% of the unit grade. Participants are required to post a response to one of a selection of resources on a particular topic every two weeks, and explore their thoughts further in small groups through the comment function.
In 2009 I produced a short video outlining an approach and rationale for using blogs with students; you can view it here: http://lindsayjordan.edublogs.org/2009/05/29/blogging-with-students-how-and-why/
I started my doctoral studies in September 2013.
